Governor's=Presidents

Who might be President? History is clear: Governor's- Clinton, Reagan, become Presidents.

Further back both Roosevelt's were Governor's of New York.

Two Democratic candidates who fit the State House profile: Richardson, Vilsack.
And a Republican: Tommy Thompson

FYI New Mexico has never had a President born there while Vilsack would join Herbert Hoover as Iowa based Presidents.

On the Front Runners

About Hillary, "No wonder last weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” gave us a “Hillary” who said, “Knowing what we know now, that you could vote against the war and still be elected president, I would never have pretended to support it.”

As to McCain "Mr. McCain’s Achilles’ heel: his age. He is now 70 years old. By 2008, if elected, he would be the oldest president to move into the White House."

Supplies Laid in....

Winter Walking

Just back from a walk and thought of this poem from 02/06

Winter Walking: like a walled city.

Unshoveled areas are walls to walking

Find the clear strip strap of snow the
pitch patch of perceived traction.

Walk on into whiteness.

Out to Goiânia

BookScoutLookout is shipping a book to Goianai Brazil which has a population of 1.2 million comparable to San Diego.

15-21 January Poem

17° the coldest I've seen.

It's not a new building but a snow covered coal pile.

Winter turns skylights to snowlights.

New powder arrives. It shovel's easily.Just get under the light fresh layer and push.

Free Chair

Out with the old...never thought I'd get rid of this chair. Man the living room is extra roomy now, etc.

Football Nightmare

My teams hated rival-refrain the bears still suck-except they clearly don't- they can't while playing in the super bowl.

Vs. the colts of the golden haloed Peyton Manning. If he wins can't slap sarcastic 'The Great' label on him anymore.

It's untenable there is no viable rooting interest. Must true to my duel loathings. Pay this no
attention. Two weeks of skipping the sports section. Avoid ESPN, navigate the net with a close eye.

Spend the game in the bedroom where this is no TV.

Keep in mind pitchers and catchers report Feb 14.

Poem in Progress: Packed a grip...

Some lines from this:

A grip is no longer just a suitcase or carpet bag or cardboard suitcase.

Loyalty is something that grew organically over time.

A better take away than Jay

8-14 Ja Poem

In 2007 I am trying to journal/remember the year through poetry. So far it's being done by daily lines turned into a weekly poem. Here's last weeks poem

Week begins with confusing site: is it a train or an abandoned building moving.

Cold week- steak in a pan inside.

Freezing wind comes for a a job. A freighter anchors and sensibly sits it out.

Lottery winners on the front page. Breaking new about unheedful dissemination not thoughtful discrimination.

Ending clarity: happen upon accident scene a sign I will stay in EMS.

Books of Interest

Inventor visionary Nikolai Tesla has been popping up in my mental wanderings recently.
1st he was in the film The Illusionist.

Then he is a presence in the new 1000 + pager by Thomas Pynchon Against the Day.

While in Newaygo MI I found Empires of Light. This is a 3 part story featuring Edison, Westinghouse and Tesla. Contrary to many think our household electricity which is AC is from Tesla not Edison.

Considering Tesla's larger than thought role I now have in hand a biography of him, which I look forward to.

Tesla not just a rock band but historical provider of AC electricity.

Monks @ Disneyworld

While at Disneyworld in December saw some monks. Really just one branch of Utopians visiting the dream of another Utopian-Walt Disney

Poem: Iraq Progress Report

The American death toll in Iraq passes that of 9/11.

Are we there yet avengement wise?

Saddam's hung I feel no better.

The solution offered is a truth obscuring fog counter to the wishes of citizens.

In survival situations you can polish a knife with sand to better signal.

It is now time to get out knives polish them with truth and send a war ending signal.
