Yesterday's forecast called for a 70% chance of rain. We've not seen any yet and the rain chance is down to 60%. Although currently there is no rain on the Michigan side of the lake this afternoon is supposed to get rainier.
Elsewhere Sydney turned it's lights out for Earth Hour, dry weather cancels fireworks & Oregon tackles global warming solutions with a global warming report due.
Finally if you are reading a weather report, say Canadian, and barometric pressure is expressed in KP's you can simply multiply by 10 to get millibars. This will give you hecto pascals which is equivalent to millibars which are not standard units but are accepted none the less.
As of this writing Toronto shows a pressure of 102.7 kPa which multiplied by 10 is 1027. OR you can simply move the decimal one number to the right!

Weather Journal 30 March
Currently overcast with a temp of 47. Earlier this morning we had a 'trace' of unexpected rain. Should be a quiet day as a bridge to a rainy weekend with the mention of unspecified severe weather in the outlook. For Saturday and Sunday the rain chance is consistently set at 70 percent or more. Also expected are 10-20 MPH SE winds so add windy to rainy.
Regardless of weekend conditions Muskegon will have had a warm and rainy March for 2007.
Will Steger polar explorer uttered this stark quote, "Global warming is all you're going to hear about the rest of your lives." Currently he is on an expedition in Greenland and school kids there no about global warming.

Michigan Cactus?
2nd hike of the year. Spotted these which I think are cactus. Didn't know cactus grew in Michigan as I associate them with the desert.

Today may look like rain due to overcast skies but rain is not in the plan. A stout 10 to 20 mph SE wind is though. As of 1000 Muskegon has east winds at 17.
Such winds I suppose could create a barber. This is when a storm causes wind driven precipitation to freeze onto the decks and rigging of boats. Definition found in a newspaper while on the road. Water temperatures are above freezing so this is still a possibility. If Stanley ID was near the water a barber would be likely given it's nation wide low of 10.

Weather Journal 28 March
It's all a bit different today. Today's weather is colder and will be rainier. Rather than 60's or 70's we are looking at 40's and 50's. Also, "Much colder with that stiff east wind." which is around 17 MPH.
Lake Michigan is filled with rain per radar but it does look like the rain is softening a bit as it traverses the lake.
Still have that high high to the north. For instance Moosonee Canada has a baro reading of 1044.
I often write about climate-the average weather over time. A recent article says climates may appear and disappear. Polar climates may go away while tropical areas could sprout new climate types. Curiouser and curoiser.
