Weather Journal 13 April

Weather: Conditions on the ground- Variable

At least it's sunny today. It's still 36 which seems like the popular temperature of late. The magical mythical 50 degree mark has now been put back to Tuesday. Continued dreary, cloudy and cold about sums it up.

Climate: Weather expectations

After another 1.7 inches of snow we are now at 13.7 inches for the month. This is considerably over the norm of 2.7 inches and also in excess of March's 11.3 inches. Also, to date we have had no days considered to be clear.

Climate Change- the effects of greenhouse gases the lens we view thru.

A report looks at carbon emissions by state in detail. Maryland is the only state to decrease carbon emissions and only by 0.4%. Michigan is up by 4% during the 1990-2004 period. Michigan's output peaked in 1999 and has largely declined since then. I take this to be as much economic as anything done environmentally.

The next portion of the UN Climate change report will urge a re-framing from an environmental issue to an economic one.
