Weather Journal 2 April

Take a day like tommorow is forecast to be. People will look at the expected high of 32 degrees and say what global warming. True this would be around 17° below the normal high.

Doing some reading on global warming and climate change and I've already got something of a retort for this. With day to day weather there is a lot of signal to noise ie days of lower than normal temperatures.

Then there are things like permafrost soil at or below freezing for two or more years. If something like permafrost is warming as it is then this is strong and more linear evidence of climate change. Also as the permafrost heats up it releases stored green house type gasses. The permafrost is a steadier state and shows global warming more clearly than does our more variable weather.

Essentially if you decide to take steps to cut back carbon emissions you are battling things like warming perma frost.
