Barcelona World Race Sailor Info: Gavinget

There are 9 boats starting the Barcelona World Race. As this is the first non stop double handed circumnavigation race there are 18 sailors. Generally there is a skipper and co-skipper. It is the skippers program and in a years time the skipper, such as Vincnet Riou, will sail the boat in the Vendee Globe. The co-skipper then was selected just for this race.

Today we learn about Delta Dore co-skipper Sidney Gavinget who is 38 married and on his 4th lap of the planet. Most recently he sailed on the Volvo Ocean Race winning Abn Amro. Also on his list is a 2nd in a doube handed transat with Pascal Bidégorry. At age 14 her served a year long apprenticeship on a tuna boat so his maritime roots run deep.

Prior to the race Sidney set things up this way, "More than anything we have been talking about going out to fight, to compete and to win.”
