There are 9 boats starting the Barcelona World Race. As this is the first non stop double handed circumnavigation race there are 18 sailors. Generally there is a skipper and co-skipper. It is the skippers program and in a years time the skipper, such as J.P. Dick will sail the boat in the Vendee Globe. The co-skipper then was selected just for this race.
Guillermo Altadill age 45 is co-skipper of Estrella Damm. Altadill is an experienced circumnavigate of Spanish heritage. Past laps of the world include sailing on board: Club Med and Cheyene plus 4 Whitbread/Volvo around the world races. Contrasted against this experience he will be sailing his 1st Open 60 race and also his 1st short handed race.
