Francis Joyon has set a new record for sailing around the globe. His time is 57 days 13 hours 34 minutes and 6 seconds. This is 14 day improvement over Ellen Macarthur's previous record. His average speed was 19.09 knots.
Overall this is the 2nd fastest round the world voyage as Joyon edged the 58 day mark set by the late Steve Fosset and crew on Cheyenne, but short of the outright mark held by Bruno Peyron and crew on Orange II.
