In 2008 I will blog on items found in the World Almanac. This is a yearly Christmas gift I have grown to cherish. M thru F you will read items that maybe chronological, topical or random.
It's a federal holiday so there is no mail. Looking on P. 371 there is an interesting chart that considers postage rates historically. It goes back to 1851 when the rate for a one ounce letter was .06 or in 2007 dollars $1.48. In 1971 when I was born it was .08 or .41 in 2007 dollars. It's now .41 cents.
