World Almanac Blog Who Invented the Match?

In 2008 I will blog on items found in the World Almanac and expand on them via online resources. This feature will appear each Monday to Friday.

The friction match was invented in 1827 by J. Walker an Englishman. He used potassium chlorate and antimony sulfide. He did not patent his invention. Site of this creation was Stockton on Tees in NE England.
