Paul was a fellow paramedic at Fort Bragg EMS.
SPRING LAKE- Paul Ivan Boyer III, 54, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday while performing a job that he loved. Born in York County, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Boyer and Eleanor Crowther Boyer. He served 3 years active duty in the US Army and served in both the Army and Navy Reserves. Among his many accomplishments, Paul was an Eagle Scout, a 1974 graduate of York Vo-Tech, attended Durham County Community College, receiving his paramedic certificate and in June of this year, passed the National Paramedic Registry Exam. Prior to moving to NC, he was a law enforcement officer in West York, PA, as well as two other townships and was a Fire Fighter I for Reliance Fire Company of West York, PA, where he was a life time member. He drove ambulance for Grantley Fire Company and White Rose Ambulance Service. After moving to NC, he worked in several counties as a paramedic as well as an intermediate level. One of his most rewarding positions was driving Pediatric Critical Care ambulance for UNC Hospital. Paul was currently employed with the Womack Army Medical Center/ Fort Bragg EMS. He attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC and was very involved with Men of the Cross and Promise Keepers. Surviving is his sister, Jan Boyer of Durham and a host of friends and co-workers. A Visitation with EMS honors will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. There will be services at Fort Bragg at a later date and also in West York, PA. Local arrangements by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home and out of state arrangements by Koller Funeral Home in West York, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NC Children’s Promise, Campus Box 7220, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7220.
