Barcelona World Race: Sidney on the Stars

From on board Delta Dore Sidney Gavignet writes:

Tonight I saw the “Southern Cross” for the first time; the cross found on the New Zealand and Australian flags. Like the “shepherd’s” star in our hemisphere, the southern star is a great form of orientation and points to the south. Looking at it made me think of children and the idea of landmarks as guidance. Under such a starry sky, I really felt like dedicating this show to children especially those close to us: at the Anatole France school in Courneuve, Chloé from Brest, Auriane from Lyon, Achille and Jacques (Jérémie’s children), Chade and Tarajune.
I was just thinking that life is beautiful and even more so that there are people who can make it more beautiful….. children are moving forward and will grow up with guidance that we hope will be good. These stars are surely amongst the most “basic” but at the same time reliable landmarks there are, and they have always existed (on our time scale!)
Faced with the abundance of signs and landmarks around, I only hope they choose them well and can trust in them.
As far as the race is concerned, we are now into that rhythm where time just slides past... Mornings, evenings, sunrises, and sunsets are like "gongs" on our clock. The days are passing quickly and we are not counting them anymore.
Jérémie has been checking the mast and changing a belt on the engine yesterday. Good practise for him and his future Vendée Globe. Our organisation is pretty easy even if we have been steering a lot over the last couple of days to make sure we get the best out of the beast! We are now running with the spinnaker and will steer even more.
All is good here, Serenity, Comfort and Ease (these are Delta Dore's three communications words) and almost what we experience here!
Have a good day.
