Weather Journal 6 April

So we've received 1.5 inches of snow, have an inch on the ground & it's currently 25 degrees. As always it could be worse.

Maine has declared a state of emergency and over 200,000 people are without power. Marquette has a new record for snowfall in April- 24 inches! On Lake Superior Stannard Rock sustained winds near 50 MPH and still has 35 knots winds this morning. The snow is expected to continue along with 20 foot waves!

Climate wise this snowfall season is the 11th snowiest on record for Marquette. 5 of the 15 snowiest seasons have come since 2000.

For today and Saturday our weather will be all about lake affect snow. The biggest total mentioned is 4 inches expected tonite and into Saturday.

All in all, Easter sleigh bells perhaps?
